Healthy Green Smoothie Recipe

I’m not getting any younger and as the years go by, I have slowly realized that the time to get healthy is now. The only gripe I had about eating healthy was that I was never really in the mood to cook special and healthy food especially in the mornings. This is why I was so happy to find out about smoothies.

I remember the smoothies I enjoyed back when I was a kid, and these are exactly the same, only without the sugar and the ice cream. These are healthy green smoothies that had all the vitamins and minerals I needed to keep myself in tip-top shape.

I have to say that I have never felt better and while the green hue might be off-putting at first, it grows on you. Now, my days are not complete unless I have one green smoothie.

Check out this basic green smoothie recipe below! It is a great way to get started.

You will need the following:

  • Blender
  • Cold water
  • Spinach, kale, and broccoli (cut up)
  • Berries or fruits

What you first need to do is to place the water and leafy greens inside the blender. Pulse about 6x then open the lid and add your berries and fruits and pulse as much as you want until your smoothie is the consistency that you like.

This smoothie will taste “green” but do not worry since the fruits give it that nice sweet kick. Some folks might want theirs to be sweeter so they can always add some stevia. If you want to make your green smoothie even better, you can add things like spirulina powder or macca. You may also substitute the cold water for some soy milk or almond milk. Personally, we like to use soy milk since it has a lighter flavor. You can also throw in some flaxseeds and oats for added bulk.

For folks who do not have a problem with dairy, they can always use milk though that might affect the taste. This smoothie is great for an on-the-go breakfast or a mid-day snack that will lift your spirits and not affect your waistline.
