What Changes to Make in Your Makeup for Spring

Woman applying blush

Spring is usually the time when formulas and colors start lightening up as the trees bud out and the flowers bloom. While dark eye and lip colors and matte skin are the norm for the winter months, spring is about light and air and glow.

  • Instead of the heavy matte foundation, try a tinted moisturizer instead. The shade range in bareMinerals Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream makes is a perfect choice for almost any skin tone. Make sure to use something that offers a decent SPF to help protect your complexion now that the sun is out again.
  • Trade your powder blush for the sheer color of a cream. Most of the cream blushes offer buildable coverage so that you can apply it as light or as bold as you want. I’m a huge fan of multi-purpose products so Becca Beach Lip and Blush Tint or Nudestix Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm look great to me.
  • Layers and layers of eye makeup often look out of place in the spring, but you still want to define those peepers. For a sheer wash of color that will accentuate any eye color and shape, try an eyeshadow tint such as Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes, plus lots of mascara.
  • If you don’t want to use the same product on your cheeks and lips, try a gloss, tint, or stain instead of your winter’s thick matte lipstick. One of the products that I intend to try this spring is the gorgeous Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint, with its lush color and smoothing ingredients such as argan oil and vitamin E.

Spring is not the time for a completely bare face, but one that accentuates your features and glows from within!
