Lighten Up Your Makeup for Spring: Nude, but Not Naked

Stylist applying makeup

Now that we’re starting to store our sweaters and stash our mittens, it is time to lighten up the rest of our look!  There are beautiful spring fashions starting to hit the stores so let’s talk about nude makeup.  I don’t mean going out bare-faced, quite the opposite.  But somewhere between the bare face and the full makeup, there is nude but not naked makeup.

  • Face: As the weather warms up, I certainly do not feel like wearing the same heavy foundation inter. Yes, we do still need the sun protection factor but we can take a look at lighter formulations and tinted moisturizers instead.  One of my favorites is the Ceramidin Day Tint SPF 15 by Dr. Jart+.  Not only is it sheerer than my Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 but it still provides the level of coverage I prefer and my sunscreen all in one step.
  • Eyes: I tend to lighten up my eye makeup as well. I am a huge fan of having my translucent eyelashes tinted almost year round, but in the summer it makes even more sense.  day-to-day eye makeup in the spring and summer, I prefer a nude eyeshadow to even out the eyelid skin tone and a simple swipe of Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Eye Shadow and Liner in Smokey Quartz.
  • Lips:à We also like to switch to lighter colors and formulations in our lip colors. One of my go-to products that lives in my desk drawer at work is the cult favorite, Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick.  For the weekends, I love my Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Whoppin’ Watermelon.  I like the fact that both of these moisturize as well as tint my lips.
