An Overview of Subscription Boxes Services

What beauty junkie wouldn’t love a service that delivers monthly goodies to your door? Did you know that there are countless ways to obtain such a wonderful little surprise?

• Birchbox is one of the original services. For $10.00 per month, they ship samples based on your profile. You can also add full-size products from their shop, and you can choose one of the samples. In addition, they also have a Points system so for every 100 points you earn, you receive $10 to spend in the store. Points can be earned through shopping, reviewing, inviting friends, and social media sharing.
• Ipsy is another one of the lower-cost options in which each Glam Bag containing deluxe samples and full-size products for $10.00 per month. They have a Points system as well, which are redeemable for bonus items in your Glam Bag. One of their biggest selling points is the unique makeup bags that are included with each collection.
• Play! by Sephora is one of the more recently launched services. For $10.00 per month, the boxes contain six samples along with a Play! Book. I actually subscribed to this service for several months before cancelling. I figured for that price, I should, at least, be using one or two items each month and I wasn’t.
• When I unsubscribed to Play!, I signed up for the Allure Beauty Box instead. It is slightly more per month, $15.00, but I hope to get a more applicable selection of products. Plus the boxes come with a mini magazine with product reviews and tips from one of the industry’s leaders.
