Exfoliation: The Fruit Salad for Your Face

Now stop picturing fruit salad sticking to your cheeks! But that’s not too far-fetched. The enzyme exfoliators are usually derived from fruits and are typically gentle and effective for most skin types. I am a huge fan of these, because as long as you follow the instructions, you can get a nice, gentle, even exfoliation. Plus, generally speaking, the fruit extracts also retain their antioxidant vitamin qualities to help protect that new skin.

Pineapple, which contains the strongest of the exfoliating enzymes called bromelain, is an excellent choice. Try the Freeman Pineapple Enzyme Mask as a cost-effective way to test out this type of exfoliation product.

Papaya, containing the papain enzyme, helps to gently loosen and dissolve the surface skin cells for healthier, more radiant skin. The Alba Botanica Hawaiian Face Mask is an excellent one, and contains pineapple as well.

Pumpkin, naturally rich in protease, is a perfect choice for aging, congested, or lackluster skin care concerns. The Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask is an easy to use choice that combines the enzymatic action of the pumpkin with the physical exfoliation of tiny crystals. The best of both worlds if you are looking for a simple method!

One of the best-selling luxury exfoliator series is the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate line. This collection from her brand includes the original as well as an intensive formula and a gentle version. Not only does this collection polish with tiny microbeads, it also contains all three of the above-mentioned enzymes – papaya, pumpkin, and pineapple.

If you prefer the do-it-yourself method, you can also find dozens of homemade mask recipes if you want to whip one up in your kitchen!

Now let’s take a look at how to protect and maintain that fresh, radiant glow!
