Great Mascara Tips for Short Eyelashes

Your boyfriend may love your short lashes, but it’s ok to want long, sultry lashes sometimes, too. After all, Priyanka Chopra’s eye broom does look amazing (those lashes could sweep anybody off their feet!). And where there’s a will, there’s a way — as they say — and here at Beauty Frizz, we have lots of will. So here are a few great mascara ways to achieve longer, more voluminous eye lashes.

Eyelash Curler Before Mascara
Tip #1 for all long-lash wannabe’s: Use an eyelash curler. Do this before applying any kind of mascara. Eyelash curlers were made for mortals like you and me and next-door Jane who have natural, God-given eyelashes but don’t know how to make them pop.

Start with clean, dry lashes. Pry apart the curler and place your lashes between the rubber sides. Press down gently. Try and keep your eyes open!

Use a Lengthening Mascara
To open up those eyes with your natural lashes, it’s best to opt for mascaras that specialize in lengthening your cilium.

Remove the mascara wand from the tube and gently apply to your curled lashes. Beginning from the roots of your lashes, swipe the mascara upwards against your upper lashes. Swipe downwards for lower lashes. Excess mascara should be removed with a cotton swab.

Apply Volume-Enhancing Mascara
Volume-enhancing mascaras help make your lashes look fuller. If you’re not a fan of fake lashes, then volume-enhancers are for you.

Similar to lengthening mascaras, these volume-enhancers should be applied by gently swiping upwards against your upper lashes, and downwards for lower lashes. Always begin from the roots of your lashes. Wipe off excess mascara with a cotton swab.

Final Tips on Mascara
After twisting open the mascara tube, you should get rid of excess amounts by tapping or chafing the wand against the edge of the tube. If you wish, you can use a lash comb to part your lashes. If excess mascara dries on the skin around the eyes (instead of the lashes), simply remove them with makeup remover on a cotton swab.
