How to Conceal Flaky Skin

Now that the weather is approaching more fall and less summer (i.e., windy and cool versus humid and sweltering), my skin is once again putting up a fight.  The breakouts are tapering off however the flakiness has returned with full force.  So it appears that I can never be without my trusty concealer!

I try very hard not to scrub the heck out of the flaky spots because ultimately they respond better to Tender Loving Care.  But in the meantime, it does take time for those flaky spots to smooth back out.

While you are treating your poor dehydrated skin gently in the evenings with your creamy cleanser and deep moisturizer, you probably want to conceal that flakiness during the day.  Once you get the hang of this little trick below, it really will not add too much time to your morning routine and it will still protect and nourish your skin at the same time.

  • Start with a creamy concealer, and dab a small amount on the back of your hand. This will serve as your palette for mixing the concealer in the next step.
  • Add a touch of nourishing moisturizer and mix the two thoroughly. Make sure that you have enough concealer to give you the coverage that you need.  Feel free to add more if necessary.
  • With a small concealer brush, now apply this mixture to your flaky spots and blend thoroughly. If you want to, you can set it with powder but use a light hand since your skin is already dry.

This helps conceal any redness that corresponds with the flakiness, and it also helps nourish that irritated skin throughout the day.  That Tender Loving Care will go a long way in helping heal that flaky skin.
